Obesity is defined as the increase in weight for height above the desired level as a result of excessive increase in the ratio of body fat mass to lean mass.

Hereditary and environmental factors (excessive food intake, wrong eating habits, insufficient physical activity) are effective in the formation of obesity. The main factor leading to obesity; The energy taken from food is more than the energy expended.

Weight loss programs; diet + nutrition education + behavior change treatment + exercise under the control of a dietitian should be in the form of combined treatments. Behavior change plays an important role in maintaining the weight achieved with the weight loss program. With the right weight loss program, the individual gains the consciousness of adapting the energy he/she eats to the energy he/she consumes, and thus the goal weight attained in the individual is maintained throughout his/her life.

How can we make changes in our eating habits to lose weight in a healthy way?

Provide variety in food selection and allocate a place in your diet to 4 basic food groups (Milk group, Meat group, Vegetable-fruit group and Bread-cereal group) in every main meal every day.
Eat at least three main meals. Take care not to be hungry for more than 3-4 hours.
Instead of snacks called snacks (such as biscuits, chocolate, cake) between your meals, include healthy choices such as fruit, milk and yogurt.
Increase your physical activity. You can take a walk every day without tiring.
Consume plenty of seasonal vegetables and fruits.
Make your food according to healthy buying, preparing and cooking methods.
